Our Mission

The Wisconsin Maritime Museum engages and educates the public about the maritime history of Wisconsin in the Great Lakes region, including Wisconsin’s World War II submarines and USS Cobia, by collecting and preserving artifacts and archival materials; creating interactive exhibits; promoting research; and developing and implementing maritime history and marine natural resource environmental educational programs.

Museum Hours

  • Summer (July - August): 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
  • Spring (Mid March - June): 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
  • Fall (September - October): 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
  • Winter (November - Mid March):
    • Monday, Thursday, Friday: 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
    • Saturday - Sunday: 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
    • CLOSED Tuesday & Wednesday*

The museum is closed New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

 *Except during the weeks of Christmas and New Year's. Groups tours available upon request at least two weeks in advance.

Submarine Tours

Guided tours of the submarine are offered daily, weather permitting, throughout the year and are included with your museum admission. Tour times are approximate and subject to changeAllow three to four hours to fully explore the Museum and tour USS Cobia.

Tours are available throughout the day as needed and last approximately 45 minutes. The last tour of the day is an hour before close.

Note: Group tours are available anytime with advance reservations.

Admission Rates

Rates include access to both the museum and USS Cobia submarine. We accept Mastercard, Visa and Discover cards. Prices and discounts are good through December 31, 2015.

  • $12 – Adult
  • $10 – Child (age 6–15)
  • Free (age 5 and under)
  • Family Discount Available

The museum offers discounted admission rates to families, senior citizens, AAA members, World War II submarine veterans, and veteran service persons from any branch of the United States military. 

Active military members receive free admission with current ID card.

  • 15% family discount (families with children ages 6–15)
  • 10% senior citizen discount (age 60 and above)
  • 10% AAA member discount
  • 10% veteran and service personnel discount

We are proud to participate in the National Blue Star Museums program which offers free admission to active military and their immediate families (spouse and minor children). This program runs annually Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Prearranged Group Tour Rates

Reduced rates are available for groups of 10 or more. Please reserve your group tour four weeks in advance. Please see Pre-Visit Information for more on group tours or to download a brochure. To schedule your tour, contact the museum at 920-684-0218.

Group Tour Rate:

  • $7 – Chaperone
  • Free – Teacher
  • Manitowoc-Two Rivers schools, ask about our local discount.

Pre-school Groups:

  • Free – Child (age 5 and under), no sub tour or educational program
  • $2 – Submarine tour and/or educational program

USS Cobia Overnight Education Program

Overnight participants receive a guided tour and overnight accommodation on board the World War II submarine USS Cobia. In addition to undertaking various educational activities, participants enjoy special supervised access to some non-public areas of the submarine and admission to the Museum.
