A Variety of Facilities

The Wisconsin Maritime Museum offers a variety of facilities that can be rented for private and public events, corporate meetings, celebrations and presentations.

Roof Deck

The Roof Deck offers 3,100 square feet of outdoor space with a panoramic view of Lake Michigan and downtown Manitowoc. The Deck is ideal for ceremonies, parties, and receptions and is located on the third floor of the Museum. 

Riverview Room

With 1,800 square feet that can be divided into up to three separate rooms, the Riverview Room can accommodate groups as large as 150 for theater-style presentations or up to 100 people for a catered event. With cutting edge technology, this space is ideal for presentations using multimedia. The Riverview Room is conveniently located on our main level and overlooks the Manitowoc River and USS Cobia.

Board Room

The 400 square-foot board room offers a unique setting for events for up to 16 people, with panoramic lake and river views. Use this space for a business meeting or as a quiet area separate from a larger rental using the Riverview Room or Roof Deck.

USS Cobia Theater

The Theater features an audio-visual presentation system for groups up to 35 people.


Bar Service

The Museum retains its own liquor license and is happy to provide a full-service bar at your events.

Bar options range from canned soda to premium cocktails. There are options for every budget and preference at the Museum.

Tables and Chairs

The Museum has an inventory of  tables and chairs which are included with the rental of any room. For larger rentals, a third party vendor will be used for more tables and chairs for an additional fee.

Presentation Aids

The Museum has a number of options to help you create a unique event. The following technology is available with room rentals:

  • Laptop and multiple TV screens with wireless capabilities for presentations
  • 55″ HD Smart TV cart with Blu-Ray player
  • Theater AV system
  • Microphone system
  • Floor standing podium
  • Easel with dry erase board or Post-It board

Preferred Caterers

All food that is served here at the Museum must be prepared and by a licensed facility. The Museum has a close relationship with many local businesses to bring you local flavor to enhance your event. To best provide for your event, here are our preferred caterers. 

If any alcohol is to be served, the Museum provides all bartenders and inventory.

Museum Rental Pricing

 A unique event for every budget

Our room rentals are customizable with several upgrades available. Below is the base price for our rental spaces:

  • Board Room: $200
  • Roof Deck: $700
  • Riverview Room (third): $250
  • Riverview Room (half): $300
  • Riverview Room (whole): $600

Additional fees include: Drinks, bar set-up, beverage gratuity, submarine access, linens, additional chairs, after-hours event, etc.

Express Rental options are available for smaller meetings or events. We also offer discounts to non-profit organizations, Corporate Fleet Members, and Reunion Groups. Email events@wisconsinmaritime.org for more information. 

Rental Terms & Conditions

All rooms are subject to availability. The Wisconsin Maritime Museum retains the right to refuse to rent its facilities for activities or events incompatible with its educational and historic preservation missions.

Conduct or activities by any member, guest or vendor of the Rental Party that endangers the museum’s exhibits, facilities or visitors will result in the event being immediately canceled and forfeiture of all rental and event fees. The Special Events Coordinator along with Museum leadership makes final decisions on these issues.

Rental Fees

To hold the space and date, 50% of the room fee is required as a deposit. This non-refundable deposit will be put towards the final amount. The final rental fee is due one week before the event with additional invoiced costs subject to bar tabs, property damage and extended rental time.

All cancellations must be in writing.

If services beyond the standard offerings are requested, extra charges may apply.

Events are expected to be wrapped up by the pre-agreed upon end time. Additional charges apply for events that run longer than anticipated.

No smoking is allowed in the Museum. We do have two designates smoking areas, however additional fees apply for any visitor caught smoking in an un-designated area during a rental. 


In the event of inclement weather, Roof Deck events will be moved to the Riverview Room. The final decision will be made day-of by Museum staff unless the renter requests a move inside earlier.


For catered events, the Museum has a list of Preferred Caterers that we suggest using. These caterers are reputable and know our facilities.

All food must stay within the rental room. No food or beverages are allowed in the galleries.

The renter and/or caterer is responsible for all dining and serving utensils, table linen, and wait staff unless discussed otherwise with the Special Events Coordinator.


The Wisconsin Maritime Museum is a fully licensed tavern. All alcohol must be served by and purchased from a licensed Wisconsin Maritime Museum bartender. The Museum has a fully stocked bar for events including alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

No carry-ins are allowed.

All applicable laws applicable to Manitowoc and Wisconsin will be followed.

Safe Ride: The Museum is a member of the Manitowoc County Tavern League and participate in the Safe Ride program. Free rides are available within Manitowoc County upon request from the bartender.

If any tabs are run to be invoiced after the event for a host bar, a 18% gratuity will be added to the bar tab.

Decorations, Flowers & Flames

The Museum provides tables and chairs; all else is the responsibility of the renter. With some restrictions, decorations are allowed.

No live or cut flowers or plants are allowed.

Glitter and small confetti are not allowed.

Burning candles is prohibited. The only flames allowed are used for catering purposes.

Glass containers are not permitted on the Roof Deck. This includes dishes, food serving containers and vases. Beverages in glass containers must be kept in the concession area and poured into a plastic cup for consumption on the Roof Deck.

Clean Up

The renter is responsible for cleaning up their materials. If the renter brought in items, they will need to be disposed of or removed by the renter.

Museum staff will make the final decision as to whether or not a space has been sufficiently cleaned. If museum staff is required to clean at the end of the event, an additional minimum fee of $150 will be assessed. Cleaning beyond emptying waste receptacles, table wipe-down or other normal requirements will result in extra charges. If such charges are assessed, the museum shall present the rental party with an itemized statement of such charges in a mailed invoice.

A Certificate of Liability Insurance may be required for events. The Special Events Coordinator will request one as needed.
