Museum Field Trips
The Wisconsin Maritime Museum’s Education Department welcomes all people to connect with our waterways through inclusive and engaging programming. We offer a wide variety of formal and informal educational programs for youth, homeschool, scout and school groups.


NEW! Virtual Field Trip Program
Dive into history with our new virtual field trip, Shipwreck Files.
This one-hour program guides elementary and middle school students through investigations of Wisconsin’s shipwrecks. Together, we will make observations, analyze evidence and come to conclusions about Wisconsin’s maritime mysteries.

Additional discounts available for Manitowoc and Two Rivers schools.
Scholarships and mini-grants are available through the All Hands on Deck Fund for groups that qualify. Contact the Education Department to apply for funding to support your bus or admission costs.

At the Wisconsin Maritime Museum, there is something for everyone! Explore the streets of old Manitowoc and learn about Wisconsin’s rich shipbuilding history. We have exquisite ship models, ship engines, interactives, children’s play areas and a real WWII Submarine!

Wisconsin’s Underwater Treasures
All Ages
This hands-on, interactive tour takes groups through Wisconsin’s history using shipwrecks. This program can be modified to be suitable for all ages.
Galleries Tour
All Ages
Join an educator for a tour through our galleries for an overview of Wisconsin’s maritime history. This program is customizable. Let us know what you would like us to focus on! Topics can include: shipbuilding, transportation, submarines and more!

An interactive storytime for the museum’s littlest sailor
Aquatic Invaders
Elementary School
This hands-on program will ask students to move invasive species around the Great Lakes and see for themselves how these aquatic invaders have changed our watershed forever.
Underwater Robots
Elementary and Middle School
Learn about how remotely operated vehicles are used today in underwater research. Groups will built and test their own robot in water!
Maritime Jeopardy

In small teams, students will compete in this maritime-themed game.

World War II on the Homefront

While troops were fighting overseas, life at home was radically changed. Using real artifacts and local stories, learn what life was like on the World War II homefront.
