DESCRIPTION:Join the Wisconsin Maritime Museum for the one-night-only premiere of Shine She Must: Keeping Cobia Alive\, a documentary chronicling USS Cobia’s journey through an extensive dry-dock maintenance project in 2025. \nOn September 7\, 2025\, World War II submarine USS Cobia left her home port in Manitowoc for Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay for long-overdue maintenance. More than a restoration story\, Shine She Must follows museum staff\, shipyard crews\, volunteers\, and the waterfront community as they take on the massive task of preserving one of America’s most historically accurate fleet submarines. \nBattling time\, Mother Nature\, and mounting costs\, the film explores the very real challenge of preserving living history—and what happens when a community comes together to ensure Cobia’s legacy is not forgotten. It is a story of craftsmanship\, local pride\, and the people determined to keep this remarkable piece of Wisconsin and American history alive. \nEvent Schedule: \n\n6:00 p.m. — Social Hour at Mertens Lounge\, Capitol Civic Centre\n7:00 p.m. — Documentary Screening\nFollowing the film — Q&A with Karen Duvalle\, Submarine Curator\, and Justin Pehrson\, Filmmaker\n\nTickets: $10 per person\nTickets include admission to the social hour\, film screening\, and Q&A.
