SUMMARY:Think & Drink Series: The Sinking of RMS Titanic
DESCRIPTION:On its maiden voyage\, the “unsinkable” RMS Titanic struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic on April 14th\, 1912. While the story of the tragedy is world-famous\, the granular details of how the disaster unfolded reveal a complicated series of events\, decisions\, and mechanical failures.\n\nJoin maritime archaeologist Caitlin Zant as she returns for an immersive breakdown of the night Titanic sank. This presentation provides a deep dive into the sinking’s timeline\, from the first iceberg warnings to the moments before the ship disappeared beneath the waves forever.\n\nAbout the speaker:\nCaitlin Zant is the Research & Communications Specialist at NOAA’s Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary. She has led numerous Great Lakes archaeological projects\, public presentations\, and outreach events\, and has assisted in nominating over 25 Wisconsin shipwrecks to the National and State Registers of Historic Places. She is a leading voice in preserving underwater heritage sites.\n\nDoors and cash bar open at 6:00 PM. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at the limited bar. The presentation and livestream will begin at 6:30 PM. To access the livestream of this event\, please register here: https://forms.gle/ZLjr8ehAUSWXxrto8\n\nPlease note: Although these events incorporate a thematic drink pairing\, there is no requirement or emphasis on alcohol consumption.
