Think & Drink: Endurance22 – Finding Ernest Shackleton’s Endurance!

December 1 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Please join us for our December Think & Drink series hybrid presentation, “Endurance22 – Finding Ernest Shackleton’s ENDURANCE!”

In February 2022, an international team of explorers and scientists journeyed to one of the harshest, most remote places on Earth–the Weddell Sea, off Antarctica–in search of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s lost ship, ENDURANCE.
Using coordinates and clues left behind by Shackleton and his crew in 1916, the modern-day Endurance22 Expedition team used state-of-the-art underwater search technology to dive two miles beneath the icy surface and scan more than 115 square miles of unexplored seabed.
The results made international news: After 106 years in darkness, ENDURANCE was located in remarkable condition and the entire wreck site was digitally mapped with one-millimeter precision. Sheboygan-native Timothy Jacob was a member of the Endurance22 team, serving as Education & Outreach Coordinator for a Reach the World virtual exchange that allowed 33,000+ K-12 students around the world to follow the expedition in real-time.
In this presentation, Tim will recount Sir Ernest Shackleton’s unbelievable 1914-1917 Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition and then share behind-the-scenes photos and stories from the Endurance22 Expedition that redefined what is possible in the world of underwater exploration.
This program will feature exclusive in-person content not yet publicly available. Drinks will also be available for purchase in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties.
Doors open at 6:00 pm. The talk and live stream portion begin at 6:30 pm. To access the live stream of this event, please register here: https://bit.ly/3Uw0NZ4
Admission is free both in-person and virtually.
