Depending on your reason for visiting, we can feature a certain element of Great Lakes history or science to meet the needs of your students. Possible focus areas can include shipbuilding techniques, World War II history, Great Lakes invasive species, commercial shipping, maritime careers, and more! Students become immersed in history as they view historic photos and artifacts while learning about Manitowoc’s lost and found World War II submarine, USS Lagarto. Discussion and interaction with museum educators will aid students in understanding how fascinating, inspiring, and challenging history can be.

The USS Cobia submarine and the Chief Wawatam car ferry steam engine are amazing technical artifacts with connections to physics, math, and engineering. This is an opportunity to apply STEM concepts from your classroom in a unique setting.
