Businesses within a couple blocks include (call the restaurant a week ahead of time to make sure you group will fit, depending on your group size):
Pizza Hut located across the river a few blocks also has coupons special to Overnighters. Contact the Overnight Coordinator for coupons at least 2 weeks before your Overnight.
The business to the north of CITGO is Harborside Restaurant with hamburgers as big as your plate. A good suggestion for individuals and families for the Family Overnight; the price might be out of budget for Overnight Scout groups, however.
Beerntsen's Confectionery is kitty-corner from the Museum on 8th street. A great atmosphere with a soup and sandwich menu, along with sundaes, old-fashion soda fountain, and confections.
Or check out Maretti's Deli a couple blocks north west of the Museum, an Italian deli which has sandwiches including the U.S.S. COBIA submarine sandwich.
There are plenty of other local eateries located in the downtown area as well as the rest of Manitowoc, most of which are located on Calumet Ave. and Washington St. on your way in from I-43 off exit 149. To see the rest, go to http://www.manitowoc.info/dining.html.
To complete your overnight experience, we now offer three options for breakfast. Please take the time to read through the options below and notify the museum at least 14 days prior to you visit on the option of your choice. All youth and all adults must attend the morning graduation ceremony before heading to any of your breakfast options.
Option 1: Bring your own Breakfast
Space is available for groups to eat breakfast in the museum. You may bring breakfast items such as cereal, pop-tarts, muffins, fruit, juice, etc. Groups are responsible for their own cleanup. A vacuum, bucket, and rags will be provided. If you wish to eat breakfast at the museum with a seating arrangement, you need to call no later than 14 days prior to your visit to make reservations. Otherwise a standing only buffet style can be accommodated if notified that night.
Option 2: McDonald's
McDonald’s coupons for buy one get one free breakfast sandwiches are available and valid for the two Manitowoc locations. The nearest McDonald’s is just 2 miles away, and is on the way back to I-43 for south bound travelers for Exit 149. You can go to breakfast and return to tour the museum or stop on your way out of town. If you decide to take the option of leaving for breakfast, and then returning to the galleries, just let the front desk know of your return time before you leave. You will need to contact the Overnight Coordinator for these 2 weeks before the overnight.
