  Follow the life story of Rex, a Chinook salmon, to discover how this ocean fish has adapted to life in Lake Michigan. Learn what makes a fish’s body perfect for life in the water, and meet one of Rex’s foes, the sea lamprey.

Busy Boats

Pre-School and Kindergarten

SailboatBased on the children's book of the same name, find out what makes boats different from each other. We'll do some big boat puzzles, play "I Spy with my Eye" in our boat galleries, and splish-splash with boats in our Children's Waterways Room!

Alphabet
Learn the science of sinking and floating using actual Great Lakes cargo with model boats.  Experiment with weight, volume, and distribution as you try to keep your boat afloat in the Children’s Waterways Room!
