3rd Grade, 4th Grade, and 5th Grade

Choose to learn a bit of shipwreck history told by museum educators, then imitate shipwreck divers while identifying artifacts and objects that could have been found on shipwrecks in the Great Lakes. Teachers, choose from the story of the immigrant ship Phoenix, the schooner Rouse Simmons, or passenger steamer Eastland.

 Learn about what makes each lighthouse uniquely built for its job of guarding and guiding. Find out how a Fresnel lens works with the help of the Smithsonian Institute, and investigate how lighthouse keepers lived before the invention of electricity.
